Born in London and trained at the London College of Fashion, Karin Darnell has worked as a Make-Up Artist in the fashion and music industry for more than 20 years. With her beginnings rooted in fashion, Karin has put her name to countless magazine covers, including; Elle, Marie Clare, Tatler, Cosmopolitan, and The Times. Karin has a huge reputation as one of the most versatile make-up artists in the business. Working on editorial’s for Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, Instyle and advertising/PR campaigns. These include Burberry, Levi Jeans, Top Shop, Miss Selfridge, Marks & Spencer and Dunhill. Her list of credits grows more impressive by the week as she works alongside photographers like Annie Leibovitz, David Bailey, Rankin and Terry Richardson.
Her skills quickly attracted the attention of music industry insiders and as a result she was booked to work with the then unknown band ‘The Spice Girls’. She worked on photo shoots, videos, TV appearances, tours and of course the movie, Spice World. This collaboration continues to this day.
For the last five years, Karin has concentrated on working within the music and celebrity industry. Karin travels the world as a Make-Up Artist and is responsible for many of the stylish make-up looks so familiar today. She is the make-up artist responsible for creating and designing looks for The Sugababes, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham, and Anastacia. Through her work on numerous music videos, red carpet events and TV she has established herself as a much sought-after make-up artist. Her long list of celebrity make-up credits also include Sophie Ellis Bextor, Amy Winehouse, Kate Winslet, Girls Aloud, Jasmin Sullivan and Tinchy Stryder. Despite a busy professional schedule Karin welcomes private make-up bookings and consultancy enquiries. Karin Darnell is represented, in the UK, by ONE Make-Up.
